Samsung Continuum for Verizon is official

The Samsung Continuum is headed to Verizon to follow up on the Galaxy S variant for Big Red — the Fascinate. The Continuum is an Android 2.1 device with Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 user interface and it features the famous Super AMOLED display found on the Galaxy S devices. What’s new for this Verizon-bound handset?

Not a whole lot, actually. It has a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, a 5MP camera and a nifty little stock ticker that shows RSS, message alerts, date, time and weather amongst other things. It’s convenient and makes checking your alerts less power-consuming than turning the display on every single time you want to peek at your phone’s status.

If you were hoping for Android 2.2, it’s in the works and should be coming soon, though it is sad to see a device like this being released this time of year with 2.1.

The Samsung Continuum will be launching on November 11 on Verizon Wireless for $199.99 with a two-year contract.
