I know what you’re thinking. How on earth could human beings become part of a mobile network? Especially when the results of a study say that we could all become network nodes! Does it have anything to do with our body chemistry? Or perhaps it’s the electrical activity in our brains?
Not quite. While researchers at Queen’s University of Belfast discovered a way to turn us all into network nodes, it’s not as cool as it might seem at first though — chips would be embedded into our phones. Theoretically, it would create a body-to-body network which would help boost network signals by having smartphones communicate directly with each other before the transmission ultimately hits a base station.
Imagine being in a place like New York City, or perhaps an event like SXSW where tons of people can cripple a cell phone network. In the case of embeddable chips that boost signal or allow phones to communicate with each other, it would actually improve coverage.
Instead of being a burden to networks, humans will become an aid. Imagine that. Now all we need is a counter movement to stifle the technology by having paranoid groups of folks decrying the concept and the radiation and bodily harm this will cause.
