Well look who wants to get into the e-mail business: Facebook! As if the social network doesn’t penetrate our lives so deeply that we don’t know how we’d live without it, Zuckerberg & Co. is taking things a step further by taking on Gmail with its own e-mail service. Haven’t we been waiting for a @facebook.com address for a while now?
According to TechCrunch, Facebook is going to unveil its e-mail service on Monday – a secret project called “Project Titan,” which TechCrunch reported on earlier this year.
Facebook has already made its photo service more compelling than Flickr by adding the option to upload high-resolution images and a new photo viewer, and now it’s looking to make Gmail seem like a thing of the past. Will it succeed? We hope to find out on Monday!
