Apple’s white iPhone 4 has been elusive, to say the least. After promising and promising again its imminent release, the company also delays it just as often. We’re beginning to think that the white iPhone 4 is going to be nothing more than vaporware. The question on everyone’s mind now is: why?
Rumors say that Apple has struggled to manufacture the perfectly white iPhone 4, and that thanks to Steve Jobs’ perfectionist personality, Apple won’t release a flawed product. What flaw? Apparently there are issues making the home button match the body. Crazy, right? It’s hard to fault Apple for striving for perfection, especially since Jobs clearly said they don’t ship junk, but those wanting the ivory iPhone are getting a big annoyed.
Reuters says:
“We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone again,” Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller. She declined to explain the delay.
Apple has never said exactly why the white iPhone has been so troublesome to produce. The company has only said the white model was “more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected.”
Word is that the smartphone is delayed until Spring 2011, but by then it will be far too close to the release of the next iPhone that it almost doesn’t seem worth buying one. Hopefully this news will change very soon.
