Napster for Android gets updated with offline streaming

Napster for Android has been released not long ago, and now the team is pushing out an update that allows you to stream music offline – perfect for commutes where you hit dead zones. This is a big bonus for those who are paying to subscribe to Napster’s services, but it might also be an incentive for those who were on the fence about picking up the application.

Here’s how Napster breaks it down:

So today we’re releasing an update to our Android app that lets you save your favorite playlists and albums to your phone so you can play them even while offline. Now you really can have your music everywhere (except for takeoff and landing, when the flight attendants make us turn off our devices completely). The app now also downloads the next few songs in your Now Playing queue ahead of time so that your music won’t be interrupted if you happen to hit one of those dead zones during your commute.

That’s over 11 million songs you have access to while on the go, which is pretty huge. Perhaps the only downside is that only a few songs get downloaded and cached for use while you’re commuting, so if you have a 45 minute subway ride in New York City, you might be stuck listening to whatever is on your memory card once the few songs are over.
