The Galaxy S Line of Android Powered Samsung Smartphones

The Galaxy S is the highly anticipated line of Android powered smartphones by Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy S will be available as the Samsung Captivate on AT&T, the Samsung Epic 4G on Sprint, the Samsung Vibrant on T-Mobile, and the Samsung Fascinate on Verizon. There will also be a version of Galaxy S on the carrier U.S. Cellular.

The main attraction to the Samsung Galaxy S is its 4.0″ WVGA(480×800) 16M SUPER AMOLED display many have been complimenting due to its high color and clarity. Under the hood, the processor running the Galaxy S is a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird. On the back of the phone is 5MP camera capable of recording 720P HD video, and on the top is a 3.5mm ear phone jack.

The current Android OS on the Galaxy S is Android 2.1. Samsung has an application for social network grouping called the Samsung Social Hub running on the phone, Samsung’s equivalent to Motoblur. The Galaxy S has 16GB of memory and an 8GB MicroSD card (up to 32GB). The phone has an accelerometer, a proximity sensor, and a digital compass. Installed is a Layar Reality Browser for augmented reality exploring and Swype for gesture writing.
