Wired Brings Rich Magazine App to the iPad

Wired Magazine has definitely been on top of the evolution of journalism and print. From its graphically rich magazine filled with quality content to its equally amazing website, Wired is now taking the next step in delivering content by introducing an app for the iPad. At first glance, it looks a lot like the magazine, which is a good thing if you’ve been a big fan of the mag as we are. But since we’re talking digital here, it has interactive content and videos, too — all without Adobe Flash.

The app is huge at 500MB, but it makes sense when you’re packing this much info into an application. The only other thing to consider is the cost per issue – $4.99. Of course, we’ve paid just as much for paper magazines that have ended up in a recycling bin or untouched on a coffee table. The iPad app lets you interact with content amongst other things, so we’re saying it’s well worth the dough if you like Wired.

There is still a long way to go in getting print publications into developing and delivering content for mobile devices. Hell, some haven’t even been able to make a halfway decent transition to web and it’s already 2010! If magazines and newspapers don’t start taking this a little more seriously, they’ll continue to get eaten up by publications like Wired.
